I Used Artificial Intelligence to Generate a Faceless YouTube Video and It's Just as Bad as You Can Imagine

AI Video Generation Software
Make faceless YouTube videos with in video AI

A lot has surely changed on the Internet since I last worked as a content writer on 2021.

For one thing, the market has seemed to dry up for basic copy writers, as I mentioned previously about making money with Textbroker.

But what I find really fascinating is why this is so. From my very limited experience dabbling back into the waters of online content writing and blogging, I began to notice a lot of people are using artificial intelligence to create content.

To test this myself, I used an AI YouTube video generator recommended by a typical and generic Rockstar YouTube video guru, and to be fair, I had high hopes.

What I can say is this: I used artificial intelligence to generate a Faceless YouTube video and, well frankly, it's terrible.

Ethics and What Not

Mind you, before I begin my rant, the video can be seen here:

I used an AI video generator called "invideo AI" and will state up front did not upgrade to try out the generative media option.

What you can see and hear is a free stock video generated with a "script" that I copy and pasted from my Textbroker article.

While the video is edited and very commercial looking, what I find disappointing for your average content creator is the stiff price expected to pay for a more advanced video.

It doesn't have any images of the Textbroker website and is clearly spoken by a computer.

Frankly, it's obvious that despite using an original script, the craftsmanship that a human can provide just isn't there

Yikes!

It Takes Money to Earn Money

Let me be upfront and state I'm not against the idea of using artificial intelligence for content.

I use a very basic artificial intelligence blog generator called, of all things, AI Blog Generator, that creates high school level content for a small yearly fee.

The content sucks, and honestly, I find it mostly useful for idea generation and basic outline structures.

The same can be said for the AI generated video in that this software will build you a professionally edited faceless YouTube video, but for a very steep cost.

Now, what you get out of that honestly depends on what your goals are, but if you want something better than a free stock image video that is clearly narrated by a computer, you are going to have pay for it.

Would I Recommend invideo to Generate Faceless YouTube Videos?

This might you surprise you because I stated that the YouTube video I generated is terrible, but yes actually, with a very pertinent caveat:

If you can afford it!

Online content creation is all about professional content that provides information to a consumer base, often for free, such as a blog or basic web video hosting platform like YouTube.

But if you want to make money or generate viewership with a Faceless AI video generator such as in my video, you're going to have to pay quite a bit to create consistent content that hopefully is written well and researched and vetted thoroughly.

But for a beginning blogger or a YouTube creator, I honestly would have to tell you to just make the content yourself.

Basic video editing skills can be outsourced to other humans or AI to create, but if you are on a budget, you would be served with a basic web cam and microphone combined with a free screen capturing software to create your YouTube content.

Of course this would mean either having to show your face on screen or narrate the content off screen, but as a beginner there really is no other way to create viewership and trust among your your user base.

On the other hand, if you had the money to pay for some credits, then yes, I would recommend an AI faceless YouTube video generator, on the premise that you know how to ensure your content is well researched and written.

Conclusion

Sadly, as of writing this blog article, the cost to generate a video with actual original content would be $60/month for 60 second AI generated clips, and a whopping $120/month for 15 minutes of AI generated clips.

They do have a $25/month tier that I was interested in utilizing, but sadly, does not include any AI generated footage for the video.

Perhaps if my ambitions ever grow for Pencil Chewer I might take the bite and use the generator, but for now, I would rather just make my own content that I can edit myself.

However, if you can budget for the hefty fee, a Faceless YouTube video generator such as AI might not be a bad idea especially if information is what you're selling.

Think something like informative TedX informative videos or an animated historical topics. If you can use the animation for that, then yes, there is room for use and quite possibly motivation.

But, for the $120/month charge being asked, I honestly would have to pass for now.

In the future this could be worth exploring, but I'm not sure that animated images are going to be as useful for educational or marketing information such as what Pencil Chewer can provide.

As well, there's something missing about the human element that really is detrimental to the output bring seen.

While AI has its uses, I don't think mathematical formulas and basic rewording functionality can ever replace human ingenuity.

Sadly, content is king, and talent is hard to come by. Bad writers are losing jobs to AI, but this is more reflective of their employers and content they were putting out in the first place.

As for myself, I'll simply wait until I can afford better niches that could actually benefit from the technology.
